Not a good week so far for the service academy basketball teams. Both Army and Navy lost their Patriot League games last night. The losses come a day after Air Force lost its 22nd consecutive Mountain West Conference regular season game.

Army went on the road and fell to first-place Lafayette. Cleveland Richard finished with a team-high 20 points, and Julian Simmons added 18 to lead the Black Knights.

Army (12-8, 2-4) has lost three of their last four games. They play next at Bucknell on Saturday.

Navy took a short road trip to American University and fell to the Eagles 69-59. The Midshipmen apparently could not stop AU junior Vlad Moldoveanu. The transfer from George Mason scored a career-high 37 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Chris Harris had another big scoring game for the Mids and finished with 21 points. But it appears the Eagles dominated Navy (9-12, 3-3) on the glass, outrebounding the Mids by 14 boards.

Navy’s next game is Saturday at home against Colgate.
