Staff Sgt. Tim Kennedy submitted Trevor Prangley at 3:35 in the first round last night at “Strikeforce: L.A.” The win improves Kennedy’s pro record to 12-2, including three fights in Strikeforce, and was impressive enough to put him in the mix for a shot at the middleweight title.
Kennedy, a three-time Army combatives champion, came out aggressively, shooting for several takedown attempts on Prangley. He was able to quickly shrug off two successful takedowns by Prangley, and worked to eventually get full mount on Prangley. Kennedy took Prangley’s back and applied a rear choke while on top of him, forcing Prangley to submit.
