Navy’s Tyler Simmons went skiing back in February. It didn’t go well. The linebacker got a little crazy on the slopes, and ended up injuring himself in a most painful manner.
Here’s how Simmons described the incident to Scout.com:
I hit a mogul and I went down onto my ski poll and my ski poll broke a couple of my ribs and cut up my spleen pretty badly … I went to the hospital that night. (The doctors) cut off the blood flow to my spleen a couple days later and I spent a few weeks in the hospital.
Yea, that hurts each time I read it.
Here’s the the good news: Simmons has recovered and will be attending the start of fall practice. The third-leading tackler for the Mids as a junior last season, Simmons missed all of spring ball, but told Scout.com that he feels “better now than I did before it happened.”
