Today is a great day for military sports

For sports fans, there’s no better time of year than the fall. College and pro football are in full swing, the baseball playoffs are around the corner and the NBA and NHL will be starting before long.

Today will be about as good as it gets for military sports fans. Air Force and Navy renew their gridiron rivalry at 2:30 p.m. EST on Versus. Air Force is favored going into the matchup, and looking to end an embarrassing seven-game losing streak to the Mids. Navy, as you might imagine, does not intend to loosen its stranglehold on the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy.

Army, off to its best start since 1996, hosts Temple at Michie Stadium at noon EST. It’s homecoming at West Point, and the game will be broadcast on CBS College Sports. Last year Army suffered a bitter loss at Temple, a game that came back to haunt the Cadets when they missed out on qualifying for a bowl berth.

For those fans more interested in the mixed martial arts, Military Times will be live streaming the second round of the 2010 U.S. Army Combatives Tournament. Follow this link to watch our feed and check back later on After Action for results.

So sit back and relax, and enjoy watching your brothers-in-arms knock the stuffing out of each other today.
