Rutgers player injured against Army remains paralyzed

Army fell to 4-3 by losing to Rutgers, 23-20, on Saturday, but the result took a back seat to Rutgers junior defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who was hurt in the fourth quarter while making a tackle on a kickoff return.

The latest reports say that LeGrand has no movement from the neck down. He is currently hospitalized at Hackensack University Medical Center after surgery to repair two fractured vertebrae in his spinal cord. During his weekly news conference on Monday, Rutgers coach Greg Schiano didn’t have any updates on LeGrand’s condition.

Despite the dire situation, Schiano believes LeGrand will recover. “Everyone here at Rutgers and his family believe he is going to recover and going to walk out of there.”
