More good news for those who have been following the recovery of Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand, who was paralyzed in a game against Army last season. LeGrand made his first public appearance Saturday at an on-campus fundraiser for the Believe Fund, a charity stood up to help with LeGrand’s medical fees. ESPN is reporting that Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, paralyzed since an Oct. 16 game against Army, has “full sensation in his entire body and movement in his shoulders.” The 20-year-old junior fractured his C-3 and C-4 vertebrae tackling Black Knight running back Malcolm Brown on a kickoff return. Army fell to 4-3 by losing to Rutgers, 23-20, on Saturday, but the result took a back seat to Rutgers junior defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who was hurt in the fourth quarter while making a tackle on a kickoff return. The latest reports say that LeGrand has no movement from the neck down. He is currently hospitalized at Hackensack University Medical Center after surgery to repair two fractured vertebrae in his spinal cord.
