What Black Knights fans need to know as Army concludes the Mid-American Conference portion of its schedule: Who, where, when: Ball State (5-3, 3-2 MWC) at Army (1-6), Saturday, noon. TV: CBS Sports Network (Ben Holden and Randy Cross have the call). Gambling is illegal in most states: Ball State is a 4.5-point favorite. Is it Build-A-Bear giveaway day at West Point?: Yes. Army gave up 14 fourth-quarter points to Rutgers on Saturday and went on to lose 23-20 in overtime Saturday at the New Meadowlands Stadium. The loss drops Army to 4-3, with all three losses coming by seven points or less. Statistically, the Cadets had no business losing. The last 30 seconds of this heartbreaker featured a fumble by backup quarterback Max Jenkins, a (questionable)…

Army Coach Rich Ellerson ushered in 55 new recruits to his reconstruction project at West Point. Of the 55 plebes, 27 are straight out of high school while the other 28 spent last year at the U.S. Military Academy Prep School. You won’t find the same five-star stand outs on a Florida or Alabama roster, but Ellerson is hoping to find those less heralded players in high school, which Army and Air Force have unearthed to build up their football programs. One standout which Army fans can get excited about is 6-2, 270-pound center Shelby Jackson, who Ellerson foresees as…
