It’s officially Air Force-Navy week, or Navy-Air Force week. Or whatever. The point is, two teams that really don’t like each other will be playing on Saturday in Annapolis. At stake is the first step in winning the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, which Air Force currently holds after beating Army and Navy last season. And with Army currently struggling at 1-3, it appears once again that the winner of the Navy-Air Force game will be the early favorite to take the trophy this season. But before the actual football comes the trash talk. The fans have already begun posting their spirit spots for…

The more mean-spirited these spots get, the more I like them. This  one uses one of those catchy songs from Apple commercials and scenes of real sailors (and Tom Cruise) to zing the sea service.

The gloves are off in this Army-Navy spirit spot, which capitalizes on the WikiLeaks scandal to “expose” why Navy has won every game in the series since 2002. Who knew that Julian Assange was a Navy fan? No doubt this will ruffle the feathers of many sailors, but it’s all in good fun. We think.

Not real sure what a “woop” is but I’m pretty sure Mids should hide ya whites and khakis. I don’t know if it’s the random female Mid in the background or the brilliant editing or the voice effects but it all just works. Well done Mids. A special thanks to Midshipmen Daniel Abney and Evan Christman for tipping After Action to Midshipman Deese’s talents. West Point really got it started with the Shake Weight piece but the Mids are bringing the heat now. Keep the Spirit Spots coming. After Action wants to be the place to see all those Spirit…

Air Force Chief of Staff Norton Schwartz said earlier this season that attending Air Force’s upset over Navy was one of his favorite days as the service’s top officer. Schwartz, an Academy alum and a football fan, can smell the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy and has a special message for Army this week. Kudos to carcoca7 for getting the Air Force four-star involved, but these Geico spoofs are getting old. Get some new material.

We have an early leader in the club house for Spirit Spot of the Week. This was done by wildbill2013 and sent to us by Air Force Cadet 3rd Class Matthew Schuetz. Schuetz and Cadet 3rd Class Andrew Spellman filmed the brilliant Inception Spirit Spot for Navy week. This series of commercials was brilliant, and so is this pro-Air Force spirit spot. There’s something about those talking babies that always crack me up. Army quarterback Trent Steelman, coach Rich Ellerson and kicker Alex Carlton all take heat from these toddlers. The best burn is directed at Carlton: “I was at…

Navy walked off the football field a loser for the first time in seven years Saturday. This might do little to console the Mids, but the votes were counted over the weekend and Navy’s submission to this year’s Old Spice war came out as this year’s Spirit Spot of the year. It works on so many levels. Nothing is worse than having witty zingers delivered by a shirtless Mid. It’s just emasculating. Second, it’s timely. Those Old Spice commercials kill After Action every time. And after watching these Mids’ spoof, Old Spice would be wise to try and capitalize on…

Here is the Air Force Academy’s answer to the witty spoof by three Midshipmen on Saturday Night Live’s “I’m on a boat.” Check it out below. I give the Air Force Academy credit for trying but it’s not even close to the work of these three fine sailors. Neither video is a Spirit Spot, but humor us here. I would post the Navy’s video here, but it has a few choice words that might get you in a bit of trouble at work if you played it with the volume turned up. Fair warning. Here is the link, though. Enjoy.

We have two Geico spoofs here. One attacks the common rumor that some Mids have an unnatural attraction to goats including the one that was earlier slammed against a cliff. The next spoof here takes a cheap shot on Ricky Dobbs. Spoiler alert here. Although Dobbs might have thrown that interception on the two-point conversion against Ohio State last year, Navy is not even close without Dobbs’ herculean effort. I would be careful in upsetting Dobbs. You know what they say about letting sleeping dogs lie. A special thank you to Cadet First Class Christopher Poulsen for tipping us off…
