Unfortunately After Action doesn’t have the travel budget to fly our faithful correspondents to each of the service academy’s bowl games. Thus, I’ll let the journalists who were in attendance provide the game stories. Click here, here or here for a wrap up of Air Force’s 14-7 win last night over Georgia Tech in the Independence Bowl. Like most of you, though, I was glued to my TV despite the protests from my fiance who doesn’t understand how there can be so many bowl games. Anyways, here are some thoughts on the game. — Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson…

For the first time since 2002, the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy will not be residing in Annapolis, Md. Air Force, who beat Navy 14-6 earlier this season, completed the service academy sweep Saturday at Army, beating the Black Knights 42-22. Junior quarterback Tim Jefferson accounted for four touchdowns — two rushing, two passing — for the Falcons, who also became bowl-eligible with the win. Navy had held the CIC Trophy since taking it from Air Force seven seasons ago.  According to The (Colorado Springs) Gazette, the trophy will be picked up from Annapolis on Sunday and arrive on Air Force’s campus sometimes this…

There’s not a lot to discuss about Air Force’s 38-7 loss at TCU. The fourth-ranked Horned Frogs ran all over the Falcons, racking up 562 total yards while holding the Air Force ground attack — playing its first game without injured fullback Jared Tew — in check. The Falcons finished 142 yards below their season average on the ground, and Tim Jefferson’s first quarter touchdown was the only score on the evening (on the bright side, it’s actually the first TD allowed by TCU in the month of October). The road ahead doesn’t get much easier for Air Force. The…

Air Force is now 3-1 after its win today at Wyoming. Quarterback Tim Jefferson (94 yards rushing) put the Falcons ahead for good with a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The point-after was blocked by Wyoming’s defense, but Air Force soon forced a turnover to cement the outcome. Air Force trailed going into the fourth quarter, tying the game up early in the period on a 9-yard Nathan Walker touchdown run.

It’s hard to tell Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson is the starting signal caller for a Division 1 FBS team, and has been since his freshman year. Maybe it’s a misperception, but you expect a certain level of braggadocio. It’s missing when you sit down with Jefferson inside his dorm on the Colorado Springs, Colo., campus. “You wouldn’t know he is the starting quarterback if you walked past him on the street. He is just so humble,” said a master sergeant working at the Air Force Academy. That comment took me by surprise because enlistees working at the academy don’t…

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, BYU. Air Force exacted revenge on BYU after years of frustration against their Mountain West Conference rival, rolling up 409 rushing yards in a 35-14 home win. It was the Falcons’ first win against BYU since 2003. Not only did the victory get the monkey off the back for Air Force, it surely also brought a smile to the faces of administrators and coaches around the entire MWC. You see, this is the Cougars’ last season in the Mountain West, thanks to their decision to go independent in an attempt…

Air Force starting quarterback Connor Dietz broke a bone in his right hand and will miss at least three weeks. The Falcons will not have to turn to an inexperienced backup, though. Sophomore Tim Jefferson will take over for Dietz. He started last year as a freshman and the first three games this year before an ankle injury forced him out. Jefferson has thrown for 319 yards, two touchdowns and one interception this year. He’s also saying all the right things after not getting his starting spot back from coach Troy Calhoun after he returned from injury. “I think the…
