There’s really no other way to describe this than a total beat-down. The Black Knights led 35-7 entering the fourth quarter and never really were challenged. Now Army has an above-.500 record entering October for the first time in 14 years. For more details on the game, click here. Below: Some photos from Saturday’s game.

Army needed this one if the Black Knights want to go to a bowl game this year. It was as much of a cupcake as Army is going to get this season. The win was made easier when North Texas had to turn to its third-string quarterback in the second quarter after the Mean Green lost second-string quarterback Derek Thompson to a broken leg. Army starting quarterback Trent Steelman rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown. From the beginning, Army dominated the first half going back into the locker room with a 14-0 lead. North Texas’ offense was meager at…

Most Army fans — not to mention the players and coaches — are probably still in a deep funk after the Black Knights blew it in the final minute against Hawaii. In case you missed it, here are the horrible details: The Cadets rallied back from a 21-point deficit to take a lead in the third quarter. With the game tied, Army appeared to be driving towards at least a game-winning field goal attempt in the final minute of the fourth quarter. Then … the bottom dropped out. Fumble. 15-yard penalty. Long pass. Field goal. Game over. Columnist and longtime…

Army coach Rich Ellerson faced his alma mater Saturday at West Point when Hawaii, the school where Ellerson also got his coaching start, made the absurdly long trip for a 1 p.m. game at West Point. Ellerson saw his squad score four straight touchdowns to storm back from a 21-0 second quarter deficit, but unfortunately for Ellerson and the Black Knights, the Warriors tied the game up and then kicked the winning field goal with seven seconds left to play to win 31-28. The last 30 seconds of this heartbreaker featured a fumble by backup quarterback Max Jenkins, a (questionable)…

Army quarterback Trent Steelman had an unspecified honor code violation recently, but is expected to start the season with the rest of the Black Knights on Sept. 4 at Eastern Michigan, according to a report by the Times Herald-Record. A cadet honor board recommended discretion for the violation, rather than separation, the paper said. “To be honest, it’s helped me on the field, just dealing with adversity because being put in that situation, it brings every type of challenge there is in life,” Steelman, a sophomore, told the paper. “For me to go through that, it did. It helped me…

PHILADELPHIA — Army senior wide receiver Alejandro Vilanueva stands 10 inches taller than his freshman quarterback. The senior is training to lead an infantry unit after he graduates this spring. The freshman looks as if he just earned his driver’s license. Yet neither could hide the disappointment each shared behind their smudged eye black following another loss to Navy. It was Army’s eighth consecutive loss to its traditional rival. However, in a game that had turned into an annual rout with Navy outscoring Army 291-74 in those first seven wins, Army showed a pulse. “It kind of takes away from…
