Cpl. Jonathon Bailey recently bench-pressed 402.2 pounds to set the Arizona record for his age and weight class. Now the the 21-year-old Afghanistan war vet has his eye on breaking the world record of 507 pounds this November at the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters’ World Bench Press and Dead Lift Championship. Bailey, 21, is pretty confident he’ll get there. “I’m at about 455, so I’m about 60 pounds away,” he said. “I’ll have it by November.” Sixty pounds in four months? So I’m flipping through the print edition of the Washington Post this morning, skimming the front-page article about the daily lives of our top-ranking national security leaders. After the jump, on page A10, there’s a picture of a guy working out, bench pressing 100-pound dumbbells. Pretty impressive, I’m thinking. I glance at the caption and — holy hell, it’s Adm.
