It may not have the prestige of the AP All-America list, but Navy quarterback Ricky “Magic Man” Dobbs has been selected as an honorable mention All-American by College Football News.

Dobbs has had  a season for the ages. Despite missing almost two entire games with knee injury, the junior set a new NCAA record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (24), surpassing Florida’s Tim Tebow and Air Force’s Chance Herridge. Any time you knock a Heisman Trophy winner out of the record book, you’re doing something very well.

Going into Navy’s Dec. 31 Texas Bowl matchup with Missouri, Dobbs has 1,026 yards rushing and 901 yards passing. More importantly, his second half performance against Army — throwing for one TD and rushing for another — gave Navy a comeback win over the Black Knights, the eighth straight win for the Mids in the rivalry. The win also put Navy (9-4) in position to tie a team record for most wins in a season.
