Yes, Navy is playing Texas tonight on ESPNU. In basketball.
College basketball is already upon us, and the Midshipmen are among the first teams to tip off . They face the No. 25 Longhorns in the 2010 2KSports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer, which also includes No. 4 Pittsburgh against Rhode Island, No. 16 Illinois against UC-Irvine, and Maryland against Seattle.
The 2KSports Classic isn’t really a tournament because even if Navy beats Texas, they won’t play in next week’s semifinals at Madison Square Garden. The host schools (Texas, Illinois, Pitt and Maryland) are automatically qualified for the semis. Navy and the other schools — plus Charleston and and Louisiana Tech — will play in the subregionals next week. Confusing? Yes, but this explanation should help.
