With this victory, Army became bowl eligible for the first time since 1996. It’s week 10 in the college football world and the beginning of the college basketball season.  Here’s what’s going on at Army, Navy and Air Force. Navy Football vs. Central Michigan – 3:30 p.m. EST: After absolutely throttling (76 points!) East Carolina on the road last week, the Mids return home to host the Chippewas, who are coming off a 26-22 win over rival Western Michigan. You might think that Navy will run away with this game after last week, but Ricky Dobbs is doubtful for Saturday. Without Dobbs at the helm, this one may be much more interesting. Basketball…

This is getting ridiculous now. Army will unveil its fifth jersey combination of the year with a ravishing grey top-grey pants-black helmet combo, the Times Herald Record reported. I haven’t seen the jersey yet, but I’m assuming from the colors featured that it’s designed to resemble the uniforms the cadet corps wears. Last week, the Black Knights wore a digital cammo uniform in their win against VMI. A spectator commented the Army players would have blended in better with the Multi Cam design soldiers are wearing in Afghanistan. “Don’t they know the field is green. This is not a urban…

Do you really — really — love service-academy football? Do you have cable or a dish? Well, hey, this is your weekend. CBS College Sports is touting the network’s Armed Forces Salute week, which will feature a triple header of mil-football goodness. For some reason CBS College Sports decided not to wait for two of the service academies to square off against each other, but we’ll let it slide. I guess VMI versus Army is close enough. Here is the full set of games: VMI plays Army at 12 p.m. EDT. Duke plays at Navy at 3:30 p.m. And Utah…

Army fell to 4-3 by losing to Rutgers, 23-20, on Saturday, but the result took a back seat to Rutgers junior defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who was hurt in the fourth quarter while making a tackle on a kickoff return. The latest reports say that LeGrand has no movement from the neck down. He is currently hospitalized at Hackensack University Medical Center after surgery to repair two fractured vertebrae in his spinal cord. During his weekly news conference on Monday, Rutgers coach Greg Schiano didn’t have any updates on LeGrand’s condition. Despite the dire situation, Schiano believes LeGrand will recover.…

There’s really no other way to describe this than a total beat-down. The Black Knights led 35-7 entering the fourth quarter and never really were challenged. Now Army has an above-.500 record entering October for the first time in 14 years. For more details on the game, click here. Below: Some photos from Saturday’s game.

Navy has a bye this week, so they made this easier. And it’s tough to call Air Force vs. Wyoming the game of the week after the Falcons nearly upset the 7th-ranked Sooners in Norman, Okla., last weekend. If we at After Action were on top of our game we would have started this weekly special last week with that match-up, but … Anyway, that leaves Army and their pivotal game against Duke. Stop laughing. Duke is for real. Yes, Alabama steamrolled them last week, making the Blue Devils look like a high school team, which is funny because their…

A quick look at the weekend’s games. • AIR FORCE (2-1) has to rebound from last week’s gut-wrenching loss at Oklahoma, and a trip to Wyoming (2 p.m. Eastern) is on the docket. (Good luck finding the game on TV, unless you have a dish and can pull in The Mtn., the Mountain West Conference’s TV network.) Wyoming (1-2) hasn’t even averaged two touchdowns per game this season — and is giving up 35 a game —while Air Force is averaging 41.3 points per game, second in the Mountain West and 16th in Division I. And the Falcons’ 399 yards…

Army needed this one if the Black Knights want to go to a bowl game this year. It was as much of a cupcake as Army is going to get this season. The win was made easier when North Texas had to turn to its third-string quarterback in the second quarter after the Mean Green lost second-string quarterback Derek Thompson to a broken leg. Army starting quarterback Trent Steelman rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown. From the beginning, Army dominated the first half going back into the locker room with a 14-0 lead. North Texas’ offense was meager at…
