Browsing: Go Air Force Sink Navy

I haven’t seen a ton of spirit spots for the Air Force-Navy game this year, but I think the lack of quanity doesn’t matter. The videos posted by supporters of the Mids and Falcons have been top quality. The latest entry comes from Air Force. It’s a takeoff of the classic 1979 Coke commercial that featured Hall of Fame defensive tackle Mean Joe Green. Bonus parts are awarded to the producers for dressing someone up in the Navy’s working uniform. It’s officially Air Force-Navy week, or Navy-Air Force week. Or whatever. The point is, two teams that really don’t like each other will be playing on Saturday in Annapolis. At stake is the first step in winning the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, which Air Force currently holds after beating Army and Navy last season. And with Army currently struggling at 1-3, it appears once again that the winner of the Navy-Air Force game will be the early favorite to take the trophy this season. But before the actual football comes the trash talk. The fans have already begun posting their spirit spots for…

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz is still relishing Air Force’s 14-6 victory against Navy. The Air Force chief of staff – a big football fan who follows the Academy and the Washington Redskins – was discussing his military career with a crowd of federal-government employees Wednesday when he broke away to talk sports. “Some days are better than others at this job, but the truth is both Suzie and I are having fun,” he said. “An example: being on the field with [Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm.] Mike Mullen last Saturday at Navy-Air Force game …” Schwartz stopped…

Navy walked off the football field a loser for the first time in seven years Saturday. This might do little to console the Mids, but the votes were counted over the weekend and Navy’s submission to this year’s Old Spice war came out as this year’s Spirit Spot of the year. It works on so many levels. Nothing is worse than having witty zingers delivered by a shirtless Mid. It’s just emasculating. Second, it’s timely. Those Old Spice commercials kill After Action every time. And after watching these Mids’ spoof, Old Spice would be wise to try and capitalize…

We have two Geico spoofs here. One attacks the common rumor that some Mids have an unnatural attraction to goats including the one that was earlier slammed against a cliff. The next spoof here takes a cheap shot on Ricky Dobbs. Spoiler alert here. Although Dobbs might have thrown that interception on the two-point conversion against Ohio State last year, Navy is not even close without Dobbs’ herculean effort. I would be careful in upsetting Dobbs. You know what they say about letting sleeping dogs lie. A special thank you to Cadet First Class Christopher Poulsen for tipping…

I must say packermatt7’s spoof on Inception is a strong candidate for Air Force-Navy Spirit Spot of the Week. Lets run down its bonafides: 1. It uses a recent movie that most everyone liked. 2. Extensive editing that mixes both Air Force highlights and scenes from the movie. 3. Not too long. The earlier 7 minute Spirit Spot was well done but just too long. Get to the point. 4. Great background music and overall film quality. By this I mean there are no grainy film portions. The Blair Witch Project-affect occasionally has its place, but it’s not needed…

UPDATE: It appears The Bro and his patriotic bandanna have been captured by Air Force cadets wielding squirt guns in the dark of night. One must wonder if those squirt guns were filled with Smirnoff Ice and if these fine cadets understand the joys of icing one of your bros. Probably not.

Now that’s more like it Air Force. Kudos cadets for doing the research and finding film of a falcon picking up a baby goat and slamming its head against a rock ledge. It’s certainly not going to have PETA cheering on the Falcons come Saturday, but After Action applauds the research. Remember, keep sending these Spirit Spots to mhoffman@atpco.com.
