Star defensive end Josh McNary scored the Black Knights’ first touchdown after returning a fumble 55 yards. The senior has been named to the Lombardi Award watch list, which “goes annually to the college football lineman — offense or defense — who, in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the discipline of Vince Lombardi,” according rotarylombardiaward.com. Army defensive end Josh McNary, Navy safety Wyatt Middleton and Air Force cornerback Anthony Wright have been named to the official Watch List for the 2010 Lott Trophy. The annual award is named after Hall of Fame defensive back Ronnie Lott, who won four Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers and a college national championship while at USC. The Lott Trophy “is given to a player who exhibit’s the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.” Recent winners include LSU’s Glenn Dorsey and Ohio State’s James Laurinaitis. Army defensive end Josh McNary has been selected as an honorable mention member of the Sports Illustrated All-America team. Only a junior, McNary has rewritten the Army record book since making the switch from linebacker to end during the 2008 season. With 18 sacks already in his career, he’s Army’s all-time leader in that category. Twelve of those sacks came this season, which set Army’s single-season record.
