The former Marine — a genuine warrior who earned the Silver Star for his actions as a platoon commander in Iraq — is making his debut in the 185-pound weight class against Mike Massenzio. It’s been out there for a few weeks now, but the official announcement on Brian Stann’s next fight has been made. The former Marine captain will square with Mike Massenzio at “UFC on Versus 2” on August 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The fight will mark Stann’s entry into the middleweight class (185-pounds). All of his previous fights had been in the light heavyweight class (205 pounds). Stann’s last outing in the UFC was a unanimous decision loss to Phil Davis at UFC 109 in February.
