It’s official. The commander-in-chief will be at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., this Saturday to attend his first Army-Navy game as president. Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden will join Obama at the game and take part in the festivities and traditions. Many speculated that Obama would attend last year’s game but it didn’t happen. Obama is an admitted basketball junkie most recently attending a Towson Tigers basketball game to watch his brother-in-law coach Oregon State. Obama’s attendance means he will take part in the tradition of crossing the field at halftime to make sure he sits…

The list of famous fans attending November’s Carrier Classic on the Carl Vinson keeps on getting longer. The latest to commit to the game is President Obama, who has accepted an invitation to attend the matchup between North Carolina and Michigan State, the AP reported today. Earlier this week, Hall of Famer and UNC alum James Worthy was announced as North Carolina’s honorary captain for the game. Worthy’s fellow “Showtime” teammate Magic Johnson, an MSU alum, had previously agreed to be the Spartans’ honorary captain. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus will also be in attendence. Players graduate, coaches leave and presidents change. But each spring you can count on Navy’s football team to visit the White House to accept the Commander in Chief’s Trophy from the president. At least it seems that way. Navy swept Air Force and Army for the seventh straight year to earn the Commander in Chief trophy again, and on Monday the team and coach Ken Niumatalolo were recognized by President Obama at the White House. Obama praised captains Ross Pospisil and Osei Asante in his remarks, as well as quarterback Ricky Dobbs, who set an NCAA record for rushing touchdowns…

It’s well-known that President Obama is a hoops junkie, so it’s not a big surprise that he took full advantage of the TVs at Bagram to watch some March Madness while meeting with U.S. servicemembers in Afghanistan. The Washington Post has video of Obama sneaking peaks at the games while at Bagram. Judging by his bracket picks, the CINC probably didn’t like what he saw.
